Śrī Veṅkaṭeśa Suprabhātam SUPRABHĀTAM VERSE 12
पद्मेशमित्रसतपत्रगतालिवर्गाः
हर्तुं श्रियं कुवलयस्य निजाङ्गलक्ष्म्या ।
भेरीनिनादमिव बिभ्रति तीव्रनादम्
शेषाद्रिशेखरविभो तव सुप्रभातम् ॥ १२ ॥
padmeśamitrasatapatragatālivargāḥ
hartuṃ śriyaṃ kuvalayasya nijāṅgalakṣmyā |
bherīninādamiva bibhrati tīvranādam
śeṣādriśekharavibho tava suprabhātam || 12 ||

padma-īśa-mitra: The Sun (friend of the lord of lotuses) | śatapatra-gata-āli-vargāḥ: swarms of bees residing in lotuses | hartum śriyam: to steal the beauty | kuvalayasya: of the blue lotus | nija-aṅga-lakṣmyā: with the beauty of their own bodies | bherī-ninādam iva: like the sound of kettledrums | bibhrati tīvra-nādam: are making a loud sound | śeṣādri-śekhara-vibho: O Lord, the crest-jewel of Śeṣādri hill | tava suprabhātam: may this be an auspicious dawn to You |
TRANSLATION
Oh Lord of Śeṣādri peak! Both the bees and the blue lotus share Your divine blue hue. The swarms of bees are making a loud sound like the beating of drums to announce to the world that their bluish hue is far superior and beautiful compared to the hue of blue lotuses. This jealous humming is filling the morning air. Won't You arise from Your sleep to stop this feud between these two, who are Your dear ones?
PURPORT
In the previous śloka, the poet referred to one kind of “tīvra ghōṣam” coming out of the cowherd colony. Here, he refers to another kind of “tīvra-nādam” in the lotus ponds near the temple of the Lord. The Tiruppāvai pāśura vākhyams that come to adiyēn's mind are the ones that Āṇḍāl addressed to Her friends: "iṉittāṉ eḻuntirāi, Iteṉṉa peruṛakkam?” (12th pāśuram) and “Seṅkaḻunīr vāi nekiḻntāmbal vāi kūmpiṉa Kāṇ" in the fourteenth verse.
