Śrī Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāma Stotram Introduction Verse 1

देव्युवाच ।
देवदेव महादेव त्रिकालज्ञ महेश्वर ।
करुणाकर देवेश भक्तानुग्रहकारक ।
अष्टोत्तरशतं लक्ष्म्याः श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वतः

devyuvāca
devadeva mahādeva trikālajña maheśvara
karuṇākara deveśa bhaktānugrahakāraka
aṣṭottaraśataṃ lakṣmyāḥ śrotumicchāmi tattvataḥ

SYNONYMS

devyuvāca: The Devi said | devadeva: O God of gods | mahādeva: O Great God | trikālajña: O knower of the three phases of time (past, present, future) | maheśvara: O Supreme Lord | karuṇākara: O ocean of mercy | deveśa: O Lord of the Devas | bhaktānugrahakāraka: O bestower of blessings upon devotees | aṣṭottaraśataṃ: the one hundred and eight (names) | lakṣmyāḥ: of Lakshmi | śrotum: to hear | icchāmi: I desire | tattvataḥ: in truth/essence |

TRANSLATION

The Devi said: O God of gods, O Mahadeva, O Maheśvara who knows the past, present, and future, O ocean of mercy, O Lord of the gods who bestows blessings upon devotees! I desire to hear the one hundred and eight names of Lakshmi in truth.
